Finally found a name for one of our twin compost tumblers! - The Bog of Eternal Stench!
(If you don't know what I am referring to then please, do yourself a favour and go and watch the great David Bowie movie - The Labyrinth!)
Words cannot describe the event of emptying our very first batch of home brewed compost from our twin tumbler. I know my significant other must truly love me to continue to empty the hideous sludge that emerged, dry retching, while I cowardly ran away to the safety of fresh air.....and I'm slightly ashamed to admit, I could not stop laughing 😂 It literally smelt like the worst diarrhoea on the planet!!!! We knew there was something seriously wrong, but getting rid of it, and fast was all we could think about so we buried it, as planned, in the future gardenbed.
Apparently, as I have since discovered, when composting, DO NOT just add kitchen scraps, it requires leaves and other carbon matter. I'm too scared to put the plants in now for fear of killing them and the possible smell I will unearth! Fingers crossed for the next batch which should be ready in a few months.
